Browsers are must-have tools when surfing the World Wide Web. Some of the most popular browsers are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari. At times when we login to some sites the browsers provide us with options to allow it remember login details such as email, username and password. This may not be safe if the system one is browsing with is for public use but OK when it is your personal PC (personal computer) or smart phone (especially when access to the system’s major functionalities need authentication as defined by the owner). In today’s post I’ll be teaching you how to access those saved login credentials on Firefox in case you forget them and an unexpected action cause your browser not to remember them. Of course the browser must have initially save the login details somewhere for it to be able to remember them; it just couldn’t retrieve due to some malfunction such as unexpected crash.

To access saved login credentials on Firefox browser follow these steps:

  1. Click the menu icon circled below to reveal the menu tab and locate the “Options” icon.
  2. Click on the “Options” icon. Once you do that the options panel will be loaded as shown below
  3. Go to “Security” panel to reveal what is shown below.

  4. Click “Saved Logins…” to see all the login credentials saved by the browser as shown below.
  5. The passwords are not shown, so click “Show Passwords” to reveal passwords. You may need to do some re-sizing in order to see the passwords properly.
  6. You can now trace the login details of the site you want and then use it to log back in.

There are times when others get hold of your PC. The system may be borrowed, stolen or seized. It is therefore always a good idea to protect our private data. The following steps can help secure saved logins:
  1. Configure your browser not to remember passwords when you’re not going to be using the PC for some time. To do this repeat step 1 to 3 in the previous section and uncheck “Remember logins for sites” checkbox. The saved logins will still accessible due to previous configuration.
  2. Repeat steps 1 to 3 in the previous section
  3. Check the “Use a master password” check box under “Remember logins for sites” check box.
  4. Configure password to be entered whenever the saved logins are to be accessed as shown below.
  5. Enter the password in the first text box and re-enter same password in the second.
  6. Click “OK” to complete configuration.

Not having to provide login details every time you login makes it more fun surfing the web. However you may cause yourself grief when sensitive information such as login details of your pay pal account or Google AdSense payment configuration is accessed by someone else. Also, access to some sites that doesn’t require email can be lost when one cannot remember login details. This post shows how to access saved login details and secure access to them.
